Manchester United have confirmed the departure of young talent Marc Jurado, who has sealed a permanent move to Espanyol.
The teenager, originally hailing from Barcelona, joined the Red Devils in 2020. Despite high hopes, Jurado never broke into the first-team squad and instead honed his skills with the club’s Under-18s and Under-23s. Although he did get a run-out during the club’s pre-season tour against Wrexham in the United States, his tenure at Old Trafford has ultimately drawn to an end.
As reported by the Manchester Evening News, the transfer agreement includes a ‘generous sell-on clause’, hinting at the possibility of a lucrative return for Man United should Jurado flourish in the years ahead.
Taking to his official Instagram account, Jurado expressed his heartfelt sentiments: “Dear Manchester United fans, it is not easy to say goodbye to what has been my house for the last 3 years but the time is perfect to start a new chapter in my career. I have had the opportunity to play with some unbelievable teammates, that I will now call friends and worked with fantastic coaches that helped me along the process. There are too many people who work at the club to thank; they made my job easier. I’ll always support this football club. Once a red, always a red.”
As for Espanyol, they find themselves in the second tier of Spanish football following last season’s relegation from La Liga. Jurado’s arrival marks an ambitious move for the Catalan outfit as they seek to climb back to the top flight.
