Manchester United’s Brandon Williams is poised to join Ipswich Town on a loan deal, as confirmed by Pete O’Rourke.
Having been a part of Manchester United’s ranks since 2008, Williams broke into the senior side in 2019. Yet, he only donned the United jersey once last season in the Carabao Cup, following his return from a loan period with Norwich City.

When looking at this move from the outside, RedMancunian feel that this loan move is the right direction for Brandon Williams who will struggle to get back into the first-team at United. A loan with a view to buy will probably be the best option for all.
In this new chapter, he will be under the guidance of ex-Manchester United coach Kieran McKenna, the mastermind behind Ipswich’s ascension from League One during the 2022/23 season.
Although Williams’s contract with Manchester United extends through the current season, with an option for an additional year, he faces tough competition breaking through. Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia have precedence over him for the left-back position, while Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka are the favoured choices at right-back.
Williams, 22, is gearing up for his Championship debut at Portman Road. This move marks Ipswich’s second loan acquisition from a top-tier team this summer, following their deal for Omari Hutchinson from Chelsea.
This evening, The Athletic have confirmed that talks are now in advanced stage and that the deal is for a loan, with an option to buy.
In total, Williams has taken to the pitch for Manchester United 51 times, netting one goal, and he logged 29 games during his tenure with Norwich.
Good luck on your loan, Brandon!
