It is reported that Manchester United are planning to offer David de Gea a brand new contract due to his impressive form so far this season.
It had been rumoured last year that a move away from Manchester United was the next step for the Spanish international, having lost his starting spot to Dean Henderson for a period during the 20/21 season, but he has been in strong form this term, showing signs of his top level once again.
According to The Sun, Man United are preparing to activate a 12-month extension in the goalkeeper’s contract to take his deal until June 2024, which will allow them time to place a new deal on the table.
The report claims that De Gea is expected to be offered close to the £375,000 a week that he currently collects to extend his contract at Old Trafford.
The 31-year-old has made 30 appearances for the 20-time English champions this season, conceding 39 times and keeping seven clean sheets in the process.
Meanwhile, the Spaniard has represented Manchester United on 471 occasions since arriving from Atletico Madrid back in 2011, winning the Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup during his time at the club.
