Cristiano Ronaldo 'disappointed' with former club Manchester United

Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly ‘disappointed’ with Manchester United’s latest efforts to resign him, according to a report from the Daily Star via information from Don Balon. The Spanish publication has suggested that the Portuguese superstar, who began his latest agitation for a move away from the Bernabeu barely minutes after Real’s 3-1 victory over Liverpool in last Saturday’s Champions League final, is reportedly perturbed at United’s perceived lack of interest in his services.

The report also states that Ronaldo would demand the same £500,000-a-week wages that Lionel Messi currently enjoys at Barcelona, and that whilst United have held talks with the player’s representatives, the club have also warned him that such money would potentially be beyond even them. The presumption would be that offering one superstar half-a-million pounds per week would potentially unsettle United’s wage structure, but on the flip side of that, Wayne Rooney, Paul Pogba and Alexis Sanchez have both been on elevated wages within the last few seasons without the performances that would typically warrant such a status.

The suggestion that Ronaldo is annoyed at his former team for not pushing the boat out to secure his services after this umpteenth public display of dissatisfaction with life at Real Madrid is hilarious, however. Even taking into account Don Balon’s record for inflaming transfer stories, it’s remarkable to suggest that United’s former number 7 would have the gall to be disappointed in his former club’s stance on sealing his services again given how frequently he has given them the runaround before signing a new contract with the Spanish giants. United’s hesitance to get involved in another pointless transfer saga with Ronaldo is completely understandable, and whilst he retains the love and affection of many of the club’s fans, few would begrudge the club’s stance if it turned out that they were steering well clear of the Portuguese captain this summer.

Enjoy that? Give it a share!
