Barcelona forward and Manchester United target Arda Turan has told his agent Ahmet Bulut to negotiate a move away from the Nou Camp after growing frustrated at his precarious role in the squad under Ernesto Valverde, according to reports.
The Turk joined the Catalan side back in 2015 following an impressive spell with Atletico Madrid but has failed to endear himself to Barcelona supporters, mainly acting as cover for either Neymar or Luis Suarez. And Jose Mourinho, who admires the 30-year-old’s style, has reportedly held talks with Turan over the summer with regards to a potential away.
And recent developments at Barcelona have further intensified the likelihood of a move away. Ousmane Dembele’s arrival from Borussia Dortmund has pushed him even further down the pecking order, for one thing, and he wasn’t even handed a place in the Barcelona squad for their 2-0 win over Alaves last weekend. Turkish outlet Milliyet state that Barcelona have noted even allocated a squad number for Turan ahead of the 2017/18 campaign.
According to Spanish media outlet AS, Turan is on the verge of a move away following two unsuccessful seasons at Barcelona. Mourinho has noted that he wouldn’t look to make any late additions to his squad unless something came up and Turan’s push for the exit door may provide an avenue through which to secure a fourth signing before the window shuts.
