Manchester United will face their sternest test of the new Premier League season so far as they welcome Craig Shakespeare’s Leicester City to Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.
Jose Mourinho’s men have emerged as the early pace-setters over the last two weeks, romping to 4-0 wins over West Ham United and Swansea City, and they have turned plenty of heads in the process. The collective neurosis that dominated their attacking play for large parts of last season has been replaced with a renewed sense of vigour and precision in front of goal.
New signings Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic have settled in superbly, with the former claiming four goals in his opening three games, whilst the likes of Paul Pogba, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Anthony Martial have been simply unstoppable going forward, clocking up four goals and six assists between them. And they will have to be at their best against Leicester, who have looked impressive in their opening two games – claiming three goals at the Emirates and a comfortable 2-0 home win over Brighton and Hove Albion last weekend.
But Mourinho, with his side bursting with confidence, will not want to change much at all and, in his own words, just let the horses run freely. Here is our predicted XI for the clash with the Foxes at Old Trafford.
