Marcos Rojo makes big step in recovery process at Manchester United

Marcos Rojo has been seen training with the Manchester United squad for the first time since damaging his knee ligaments back in April.

The Argentine became a regular in Jose Mourinho’s starting XI back in November 2016 alongside Phil Jones and quickly became the side’s leading presence at the back, proving indispensable to the Portuguese’s line-up with an endless stream of dominant displays over a 25-game unbeaten run in the Premier League.

He made 41 appearances in total over the 2016/17 campaign until his season was cruelly cut short by a significant knee injury sustained during United’s 2-1 win over Anderlecht in April that required surgery. Jose Mourinho recently confirmed that there was no chance whatsoever of the 27-year-old – who joined the side on their pre-season tour of the United States, training alongside Luke Shaw and Ashley Young away from the main group – returning to action before January.

However, he was seen training with the first team on Tuesday morning and sharing a laugh with Ander Herrera. It seems that the Argentine, four months after going under the knife, will start working with the ball again as he continues to bring himself back to full fitness. And as somebody who suffered a similar injury not so long ago, having the ball at your feet once again after months of sitting on a bike is a joy like no other, and it certainly makes the recovery whole process feel quicker.

Meanwhile, the rest of Mourinho’s squad have been hard at work at Carrington during their first training session since dismantling Swansea City 4-0 last Saturday as they prepare for this weekend’s clash with Craig Shakespeare’s Leicester City.

Enjoy that? Give it a share!
