Tottenham Hotspur have had a bid rejected by Manchester United for winger Anthony Martial, according to reports from France.
The Frenchman has been subject to interest from Arsenal this summer but quickly insisted he would remain at Old Trafford. Inter Milan have recently proposed taking him on loan for a season in exchange for United target Ivan Perisic, but Jose Mourinho has no interest whatsoever in letting the youngster spend a year at the San Siro.
Mauricio Pochettino’s complete lack of transfer business this summer has been placed under scrutiny in light of Danny Rose’s comments in a recent interview where he questioned his club’s ambition. He has been since forced to apologise for his comments but the club have interestingly started to make movements in the market, reportedly expressing interest in Ajax’s Davinson Sanchez.
And according to French media outlet RMC Sport (via Independent), Spurs have launched a bid for Martial, with the figure rumoured to be around £25m, but United have absolutely no intention of selling such an important player to a rival.
The 21-year-old’s future has been placed in doubt after failing to breach the starting XI in recent times under Mourinho, who notably prefers wingers with more defensive discipline. Martial’s display from the bench against West Ham, however, where he claimed a goal and an assist in the space of ten minutes, may have propelled him back to the forefront of his manager’s thinking.
