According to the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United manager has had a change of heart regarding the future of Luke Shaw. Reports over the last few months have painted a very dark picture regarding the former Southampton defender’s future, with Shaw frequently missing from matchday squads and seeing the likes of Matteo Darmian, Marcos Rojo and Daley Blind picked ahead of him despite none of them being a natural left back.
But the MEN’s report suggests that Shaw has won Mourinho over to such an extent that the Portuguese is not planning to replace him after all. Shaw returned to the starting line-up last Saturday in United’s 1-1 draw with Bournemouth in the Premier League, which can now be taken as a sign that his manager can see a future for the player at Old Trafford.
Speaking of Shaw last week, Mourinho said: “Luke is working hard, he’s trying to improve. He improved by the physical point of view, I can say that by good dedication, specific work and now he needs some opportunities to feel alive.
“He needs minutes on the pitch to show evolution is not physical but globally because a player is not just a better physical condition.”
