Jose Mourinho was characteristically bullish when asked about Manchester United’s latest FA Cup draw, which paired the reigning champions with a visit to his old side Chelsea. The two, who last met at the quarter final stage in 2013, will face each other at Stamford Bridge on the weekend of the 11th/12th of March, but the United manager has other things on his mind than a return to his old stomping ground.
When questioned about the enticing draw, Mourinho, speaking after Sunday’s 1-2 fifth round win over Blackburn Rovers said:
“I have no reaction because I have to play Saint-Etienne, the EFL Cup final and hopefully another opponent in the Europa League,” he told reporters.
“I have to fight for a top-four position in the Premier League so I have so many things to think about. Probably Chelsea can only think about the FA Cup because I think they are champions and they have nothing else to play for, so the FA Cup is something important for them. The match is in one month’s time and I don’t want to speak about it now.”
