It seems as if speculation linking David De Gea with a move to La Liga giants Real Madrid will never truly die down. The Manchester United goalkeeper famously almost sealed a move to the Spanish club in 2015 on transfer deadline day, only for clerical errors on the part of Real to halt the deal at the eleventh hour. De Gea went on to have a superb season for United, winning the club’s Player of the Year award for the third straight season.
Things seem a lot more comfortable for the Spaniard in the eighteen months since then, and with Jose Mourinho now in charge, De Gea hasn’t needed to provide weekly heroics to save his teammates. But that hasn’t stopped Spanish outlet AS from pressing the former Atletico Madrid player about a potential move to his boyhood club’s bitter rivals.
In quotes carried by Sky Sports, De Gea said: “The future nobody knows. The future is the future. I’m very happy here, it’s a great club. In England, football is enjoyed a lot.”
“I will not talk about that subject any more. I just have to keep focused on my club.”
