Gigantic deal agreed to bring French star to Manchester United

Given that the January transfer window has just shut, it’s surprising to hear that Manchester United have a tentative deal in place for a purchase that won’t be completed until this summer, but that’s what we’ve got on our hands at this moment. The Telegraph, citing reports in France, are suggesting that a deal to bring Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann to Old Trafford is being seriously worked on, with a €15m-a-year package being agreed between the club and the Frenchman.

As previously suggested by several outlets, the need for Atletico to help cover the cost of the construction of their new stadium in Madrid has forced them to seriously consider offloading their biggest players, with Griezmann easily their most profitable asset at present. His relationship with Paul Pogba is again thought to be a key factor in the player’s desire to swap La Liga for the Premier League.

Given how United have struggled in front of goal, it’s no surprise that Jose Mourinho is especially keen on bringing someone as clinical as Griezmann into his side. What is surprising is how news of a deal is leaking out with over three months until the summer transfer window opens. Regardless, it’s a deal that United appear to be believe they can seal, and if the player wishes to make the move, United’s forward line could be in line for an incredibly exciting revamp.
