Rumours of Manchester United’s desire to make Antoine Griezmann their next major signing have been swirling for months, and according to the Daily Record, they plan to utilise one of their own employees to aid their efforts.
Paul Pogba, who plays alongside the Atletico Madrid forward in the French national side is thought to be contacting Griezmann on a daily basis in an effort to help sway the player towards a move to Old Trafford. The report also states that Griezmann was approached about moving to United last summer, but wasn’t thought to be receptive to the idea due to wanting to focus on his participation in Euro 2016, which France hosted.
Any deal for Griezmann would likely match, if not surpass the £89m that United paid Juventus for Pogba’s services, with a move for the player making sense this coming summer. Atletico look unlikely to challenge for the La Liga title this season, and having lost two Champions League finals to Real Madrid in the last three years, the time might be right for the 25-year old to make the jump to the Premier League.
