Ashley Young has asked Jose Mourinho if he can leave the club on loan during this January transfer window, with the Manchester United player desperate for playing time having barely featured under the Portuguese this season.
According to the Daily Mail, Young, who hasn’t started a game in the Premier League since his surprise inclusion in the side that beat Swansea City 1-3 in November, would reportedly prefer a loan to a Premier League club, but has previously received interest in his services by Shandong Luneng, a side in the Chinese Super League.
The decision will likely rest with Jose Mourinho; United’s fixture list is already quite crammed, and Young’s services could prove particularly useful should any fresh injuries occur. United could progress to the final of the EFL Cup and the fifth round of the FA Cup depending on results this week, meaning their schedule will become even more congested. With that in mind, Mourinho may be hesitant to sanction a move for the former Aston Villa winger.
