You can add Bernardo Silva to the list of names that Manchester United are reportedly eyeing up. The Monaco midfielder and Portugal international is said to be drumming up interest from the continent’s biggest teams, with the Daily Mail suggesting that, alongside the potential purchase of Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann, United could be reinvigorating their attack to a big extent in 2017.
Silva, 22, has been a big part of AS Monaco’s rise to the top of Ligue 1 this season, with the French side currently sitting atop the table on goal difference having bagged a stunning 60 goals in 20 games. Silva has contributed five goals in all competitions this term, and is currently in his third season with the side having left Benfica after only one appearance in the first team.
Any deal to bring the Portuguese to Old Trafford would likely be expensive, especially given how Monaco have suddenly turned into title contenders this season. Of course, with United signalling their intention to be a force in the transfer market last year by spending £89m on the signature of Paul Pogba, money isn’t likely to be much of an issue.
