Reports: United monitoring Inter Milan attacker Ivan Perisic

Jose Mourinho wouldn’t be the first manager to poach a player from a former club, and if one particular outlet are to be believed, the Manchester United manager is eyeing up one of Inter Milan’s current crop. The Daily Express, who cite Calciomercato are suggesting that United are interested in bringing Ivan Perisic to Old Trafford, with the Croatian also gathering interest from Liverpool, Everton and Tottenham Hotspur.

The suggestion is that Mourinho could use his influence at the San Siro, given that he left Inter on the back of an historic treble in 2010 to bring Perisic to the club, with Paris Saint Germain also interested. Perisic, who can play behind the striker or on the flanks, is said to appeal to the United manager due to his flexibility. The former Borussia Dortmund and Wolfsburg man has scored six goals in 21 appearances this season, but it isn’t mentioned if United are interested in a move this January or in the summer.

One potential stumbling block is Inter’s current form; the Milanese side sit seventh in Serie A, four points off Lazio in the fourth Champions League spot, which could drastically lessen their willingness to sell. As an option, Perisic is certainly interesting, but it feels unlikely that he’ll back his bags for Manchester during this January’s transfer window.
