It has been the main subject on everyone’s lips over the past month, that of Wayne Rooney and his Manchester United career. Is it all over for Wayne as a starter of the club, well, he certainly does not think so and also think that they will be challenging for the title come May.
Manchester United are currently five points adrift of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League. Jose Mourinho is sitting high in the Manager Social Index from 888sport currently just behind Jurgen Klopp of Liverpool as this article goes live, check it out.
Wayne Rooney was once again left out of the starting eleven for Monday night’s 0-0 draw with Liverpool, but he could return to the lineup on Thursday night under the lights of Old Trafford against Fenerbahce, where they will also welcome back Robin Van Persie.
Speaking with the Mirror, Rooney said:
“Of course I want to play – I just have to keep working and get into the team”
“I’m sure my chances will come, then it is up to me to take them. I have to try and do my job for the team and wait for my chance.
“I like to think I can play every game, but obviously it’s the manager’s decision and I respect that. I will be ready when I’m needed.
“I think we’ll be challenging [for the title] this season. We’ve still got that belief and it is even stronger after working with this manager and the players over the last few months. I think we’ve got a fantastic squad, that is ready and capable of challenging.”
