Manchester United’s youth team goalkeeper, Joel Pereira, has been loaned out to Rochdale.
The Portuguese net minder is yet to make a first team appearance for Manchester United but has been a regular feature in Warren Joyce’s youth set up.
Keith Hill, the Rochdale manager, had this to say about the young keeper, to RochdaleAFC.co.uk:
“I’m really pleased to be working with him. He’s an exciting goalkeeper. His distribution is flamboyant and his ability in goal is absolutely magnificent.”
“He comes in to push [current Rochdale goalkeepers] Josh [Lillis] and Johny [Diba].”
The Dale’s goalkeeping coach, Steve Collis added:
“Joel is at Manchester United for a reason. He comes highly recommended. We got a chance to see him in the Lancashire Senior Cup when we played against United at Altrincham in the summer and he looked to be an exciting goalkeeper.”
“We’re bringing him in to enhance our goalkeeping department.”
Rochdale currently sit in 10th in League One and have conceded 16 goals in 13 games.
