Ander Herrera, Michael Carrick, Antonio Valencia and Marcos Rojo were absent from today’s training session but, Louis van Gaal has dipped into the U21’s to bring up four Red Devil prospects, to train with the first team.
Two right backs have been brought up to the first team training session. The first being Guillermo Varela, a 22 year old Uruguayan who, in United U21’s two games thi season, has got one goal to his name.
The second right back is Donald Love. The Scottish 20 year old has one assist in two U21 games this season.
Two English midfielders have also been selected for first team action. One of which is left midfielder James Weir. Weir is 20 years old and already has a goal and an assist in the Manchester United U21’s two games.
The other Englsihman is Josh Harrop, who is the youngest of the four being given a promotion. The 19 year old central midfielder has one assist this season, in the U21’s.
The youngsters being called up are most likely going to be provided as back up on the bench in case any of the first team quartet, who missed training, remain unavailable for the Champions League match up with VfL Wolfsburg.
