Manchester United kicks off their UEFA Champions League group stage with a trip to the Netherlands to play PSV Eindhoven.
There are 3 Manchester United comrades who will be returning to their home country for the Champions League match up: Louis van Gaal, Daley Blind and Memphis Depay. All of whom have a history with PSV.
Memphis was signed from the Dutch club this summer, after being their top goal scorer in the previous season.
Both Blind and van Gaal have spent parts of their career at PSV’s arch rivals AFC Ajax, and have beaten them on multiple occasions.
The ex-PSV boss, Aad de Mos, has left a warning for Memphis and Daley regarding their return to the Netherlands on Tuesday.
Speaking to The Mirror, de Mos said:
“Depay is not going to get one bit of joy out of his return to Holland”
“Santiago Arias, the Mexican international defender who knows him inside out, is going to eat him raw.”
“And if Daley Blind thinks he can come and enjoy a bit of freedom, or dominate the game again, then he will soon realise all the PSV players are going to be after him. They will not leave him alone.”
PSV Eindhoven are the top seeded team in Manchester United’s group so one can expect a tough match on van Gaal’s return to the Netherlands.
