Champions League Squad Announced – No Rooney

After beating Club Brugge 7-1, on aggregate, Manchester United made it to the Champions League group stage. Their first match is away to the top seed, and current Dutch champions, PSV Eindhoven.

The Red Devils squad has travelled to the Netherlands to prepare for the Champions League clash. The players that travelled are:

 

Goalkeepers – David De Gea, Sergio Romero.

Defenders – Daley Blind, Matteo Darmian, Paddy McNair, Marcos Rojo, Luke Shaw, Chris Smalling, Antonio Valencia.

Midfielders – Michael Carrick, Ander Herrera, Andreas Pereira, Morgan Schneiderlin, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Juan Mata, Ashley Young, Memphis Depay, Marouane Fellaini.

Strikers – Anthony Martial, James Wilson.

 

Club captain Wayne Rooney hasn’t travelled due to his hamstring injury so, Michael Carrick or Chris Smalling will sport the band in the PSV match.

Louis van Gaal, Daley Blind and Memphis Depay are returning to their home country for the match up. Both Depay and Andreas Pereira will be returning to their previous club.

Anthony Martial is going to be assessed closer to kick off to decide whether or not he’s ready to start upfront for Manchester United.

The game kicks off tomorrow at 19:45 at the Philips Stadion, or on BT Sport Europe.
