The Netherland’s number one keeper will not be joining Manchester United in this transfer window. Jasper Cillessen’s staying with Ajax and not moving to Old Trafford.
Despite the speculation here in the UK, Cillessen claims to know little about him being linked with a move to United. The Dutch keeper stated:
“As far as I know it has never been a thing… I, the club, or my agent have never heard anything. As for me, this season begins and ends at Ajax.”
Cillessen was Louis van Gaal’s first choice keeper in the 2014 World Cup and helped them reach the Semi finals, which included a clean sheet against Argentina’s ruthless strike force.
He has made 99 appearances for Ajax, keeping 46 clean sheets.
Despite David De Gea looking to be on his way to Real Madrid, United really don’t need another goalie. There are currently 5 in their first team, only one of which hasn’t played for their national team, and he’s the one backing up Romero every week.
