Antonio Conte has left Juventus after having his contract terminated by mutual consent, fueling speculation that star midfielder Arturo Vidal is heading to Old Trafford.
Conte’s unexpected departure is thought to be linked to Italy’s vacant managerial position. Cesare Prandelli quit the role following the national team’s group stage elimination at this year’s World Cup.
The development leaves Vidal – a key figure in the Juventus midfield that enjoyed three consecutive Serie A titles under Conte – a step closer to a much rumoured transfer to Manchester United, subject to an official bid.
Juventus have reportedly valued the box to box powerhouse at £35 million. Earlier this week the 27 year old Chilean informed chilevision.cl he was aware of the Manchester United “option”.
Vidal, who scored 11 goals in 32 league appearances for Juventus last term, recovered from a serious knee injury to help Chile reach the round-of-16 at the World Cup, where they lost on penalties to Brazil.
