Manchester United moving closer to signing Luke Shaw

Today’s fresh stories say that Manchester United will step up their interest in England international Luke Shaw this week, with Luke allegedly pleading with Southampton to grant him a dream move to Old Trafford. Additionally, the same report states that Southampton are in a position where they aren’t desperate to sell with a healthy financial status. However, if the club receive a bid within the region of £30m, they will accept.

The Daily Mail also report that Manchester United will bid £9m for Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen, but will stall the deal until after the World Cup. The Belgian international has been second choice in almost every Arsenal game for the past two years, behind Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscienly in the pecking order. The 28 year-old only has one year left on his contract, so Arsenal may consider selling their former captain.

£30million is £15million too much for Luke Shaw. We should look at the othre left backs available for around half the price.

I hope to God that Thomas Vermaelen deal is just media bull. He is not better than who we already have.

Eliaquim Mangala is another player who is way overpriced. And I am not entirely convinced by him.

Cavani would be very unlikely unless we are selling Rooney and/or RVP. Besides, I think he would be the wrong signing for this club.

Buttner leaving is the only good news here. To be honest, it was him or Evra and since Evra is staying another season, Buttner made the right choice for himself. I think on the few times he did play, he has shown himself on par with the declining Evra.

I think United should buy Daley Blind or Ricardo Rodriguez for left back. Luke Shaw is overpriced.
Vermaelen is a logical choice to replace Vidic. Even though he currently not performing well, he has the experience and leadership needed to guide United young centre back.
