One of the glowing factors to come out of the current drab season for Manchester United has been the growth of David de Gea’s career with the club, adding to that, being announced this evening that he has won the Player of the Year award as voted for by the fans.
The loveable Spaniard has kept 13-clean-sheet so far this season with a remaining fixture to go against Southampton, beating off competition from Wayne Rooney for the crown of Player of the Year, and an award that was very well deserved.
Former Manchester United defender Denis Irwin:
“He’s probably been the best player for me. His standards have been very high
“Obviously, he has improved an awful lot from when he first came in. He is a very steady and secure keeper now. For me, he’s been the player of the year.
“Giggs said he has reached the standards expected from a Manchester United player.”
