Manchester United today announced the contract extension of Michael Carrick, keeping him at the club until at least June 2015 and it was not long until Carrick himself took to social media to express his delight that he will be a Manchester United player for a while longer.
On networking site WhoSay, Michael Carrick posted a photograph of himself after Manchester United clinched their 20th league title at Old Trafford, attaching the following quote direct from the man himself:
“Delighted to be able to play at this great club for a little while longer, I’ve had some amazing times here and I hope for many more”
Both Manchester United and Michael Carrick have stated that there is an option to extend his new contract once reviewed again in 2015.
There is no doubt that Michael Carrick has been United’s best central midfielder over the past few years.
The 32-year-old is currently out for a few weeks due to minor surgery but is back in light training at Carrington.
Manager David Moyes expressed his delight on Carrick signing on:
“I am delighted Michael has extended his contract.
“During my short time at the club it hasn’t been hard to notice that Michael is a great reader of the game and has excellent passing ability.
“He is an exceptional man and a true professional and it’s great that he has committed himself to the club”.
