Manchester United are reportedly keeping a close eye on Brazilian midfielder Fernando who is coming to the end of his current contract with Portuguese side Porto.
Inter Milan, Juventus and now Manchester United have entered the race to sign the Brazilian 26-year-old, who has yet to open talks with Porto on a possible contract extension, his current contract ends in the summer of 2014.
According to Portuguese press outlet A Bola, Porto will look to cash in on selling Fernando this January if the club fail to qualify into the knock-out stages of the UEFA Champions League, currently 2nd in Group G behind Atlético Madrid.
Porto would rather cash in on Fernando in January than lose him totally for free in the summer.
Fernando, Brazilian born is moving closer to having Portugese citizenship, meaning that he would not requirement a for a work permit should Manchester United make an official bid for the midfielder in January.
