Robin van Persie set to return from injury for Liverpool clash

The main talking point before the Manchester Derby was the fact that Robin van Persie was not on the team-sheet with United confirming that the Dutchman would not feature due to a thigh injury picked up in training.

Manchester United lost 4-1 to rival Manchester City, but even if Robin van Persie would of featured we doubt it would of made a difference as it was more than a lackluster performance all over the pitch from the Champions.

David Moyes confirmed pre-match that a thigh injury would keep him out of the Manchester Derby but he is expect to return for the Liverpool match on Wednesday in the Capital One Cup or for West Brom next Saturday at Old Trafford.

Speaking with Sky Sports, Moyes said:

“We thought Robin would be okay.

“We gave him every chance. It’s nothing serious.

“He could be involved on Wednesday [against Liverpool] or next weekend [against West Brom at OT].”

Enjoy that? Give it a share!

I want the manager to own this defeat. The mentality of leaving out quality in preference of english players is a problem to united. Its what makes chealsea and Man c different. How can Rafael be left out in favour of smalling? How can young be fielded when there is Adnan? How can Kagawa feature no where? I think Fergie is commanding things on the sides and the worst thing is nepotism. A scot recommends a fellow scot without pedigree. That why world talent snubbed united in the summer. why didnt he recommend Klopp?
