Manchester United have this week made an official offer for Leighton Baines from Everton, according to the Times Newspaper.
Baines was one of the players that immediately got linked to moving to Manchester United this summer, following his previous manager David Moyes to Old Trafford.
However, the 28-year-old mentioned in an interview earlier in the week that he was eager to work under new Everton manager Roberto Martinez.
The Times report that the official bid for the England defender is in the region of £10million to £12million.
David Moyes has been back in England since the weekend from his family holiday and all be it, not officially starting his job at Manchester United until the 1st July, has very much been working behind the scenes with Leighton Baines offers and the hopeful, completion transfer of Thiago Alcantara.
With Patrice Evra likely to be first choice next season for the Champions in possibly his last season for the club, Baines coming in could see more rotation at left-back. Alexander Buttner and Fabio Da Silva will be rushed further down the pecking order for first-team places.
What do you think of the latest offer for Leighton Baines?

Leighton Baines is an amazing player. We can’t really do much better. But I would have preferred a much younger player, especially since Evra might stay for another year. It would be really nice if Moyes could identify a growing talent of 21 or 22, who would have a phenomenal breakthrough season when Evra leaves. Leighton Baines is really good, but after Van Persie last year, Baines could be the final break-away from discovering young talent rather than buying ready made players. I’m not for United purchasing 27-29 year old players
united need fellaini,in d middle, bcos united don hv mieldfields, that area should be strengthen badly,so that we can retain d epl…van persie will score more goals,if d mieldfield is build strongly.moyes sign fellaini 4 us,i luv dat guy…
I love Baines and I want him 2 be among the controllers of United midfield. If we don’t strenghtens our midfield against next season, so many useless clubs will punish us for that. Mourinho will deal with us through that midfield and we shall also pay handsomely for failiure 2 correct the midfield Errors @ the champions league and other importants competitions. This issue of midfield has been a major problem for United over a decade precisely SAF era hopefully Moyes will resolves the problem
Buttner has impressed when called upon and has a sweet left foot, what was the point is signing him if we are not prepared to give him a decent go in the first team as we could have kept Fabio in the team instead of loaning him out last season to QPR. It is bad form for a manager to raid his previous club of its best players, Fergie never did it when he went to Manchester and he had a lot of good players at Aberdeen.
