Sir Alex Ferguson has described Robin van Persie as ‘fantastic’ despite the lack of goal for Manchester United as late and would vote for him as Player of the Year.
Robin van Persie has not scored for Manchester United since February 10th which was against Everton, but despite the goal-drought, Sir Alex still has confidence that all that will change as we go into the end of the season.
Speaking with reporters, Sir Alex said:
“Listen, Van Persie was fantastic on Monday [against Manchester City]. Along with Phil Jones, he was our best player.
“I haven’t paid attention to the selections for Footballer of the Year since 1999 when we won the treble and David Ginola of Tottenham was given Player of the Year.
“For this year, I don’t watch all of the players all the time but, if I had a vote, Van Persie would surely be up there.”
