Manchester United have been given a home tie against Reading in the 5th round of the FA Cup. The draw continues a remarkable run of United’s last 7 FA Cup ties all being against Premier League opposition – (Reading, Fulham, West Ham, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester City and Arsenal).
The two clubs met on December 2nd in the Premier League at the Madejski Stadium when United ended up on the right side of an entertaining 4-3. They have previously met each other 12 times in the FA cup.
The tie will be played the weekend of the 16th and 17th February and is sandwiched between away trips to Real Madrid in the Champions League (13th) and QPR in the Premier League (23rd).
With Chelsea facing a replay with Brentford and Liverpool and Spurs having crashed out to lower league opposition, United will fancy their chances of progressing deep into the competition which they haven’t won for 9 years.
United have won the competition more times than anyone else (11) and have also appeared in more finals that anyone else (18).

Yet again we get the toughest draw of all the top Perm teams. Another Premier League team as well. Thinking about our cup draws this year and you also have Newcastle, Chelsea and Madrid…
It’s certainly a statistical quirk, but we should really be beating Reading at home in a competition that won’t be a priority for them..
Any game in the cup is a bonus really considering i though we were out of it when down in London for the West Ham game until RvP and Giggs saved the day.
Would be great to win it again this year, been far too long.
