Danny Welbeck to join Reading on loan?

Today, The Sun newspaper in the UK are reporting that Danny Welbeck is set for a move to Reading in a loan move for the rest of the 2012/2013 season.

The report says that the loan spell will be penned before Manchester United’s fixture against Liverpool this coming Sunday after Welbeck has fell out of favour for a first-team place at the club.

Currently you would say that Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez are all ahead of Welbeck as first choice for Sir Alex Ferguson, and with Shinji Kagawa in the position just behind the striker, opens up more options for the United boss.

Reading manager Brian McDermott has reportedly to have made an inquiry to Manchester United regarding Welbeck and that the club are willing to let him go to the Madejski Stadium on loan.

We would take this rumour with a pinch on salt as it is being reported in The Sun, Welbeck is a fantastic squad player, no doubt that the arrival of Robin van Persie has put his progression through our first-team back slightly but can’t imagine us loaning him out.

No doubt Sir Alex Ferguson will be asked around the rumour at his weekly press conference on Friday.

Meanwhile, Davide Petrucci and Scott Wootton are set to move to Peterborough United on loan till the end of the season to help out Sir Alex Ferguson’s son, Darren.
