HOTELS
When traveling to Manchester United you will more than likely be looking for a hotel for when you stay over in Manchester. There are many hotels to choose from but we would strongly recommend the Premier Inn hotel company, they have 30 hotels within a 10-mile radius of Old Trafford.
Manchester United Hotels
The nearest hotel to Manchester United is a Premier Inn which is right next to the ground, click here to view hotel and rates. But if your date is not available or you wish to find a hotel closer to the city itself then click here to view all locations and rates. Prices start from as little as £19 per night and all locations are fantastic and easy accessable whether walking or using Manchester’s metrolink service.
METROLINK
Getting to Old Trafford from Manchester city centre is easy via the metrolink, take the Altrincham tram (from Piccadilly onwards) and get off at the Old Trafford stop, as you get off cross the tracks and walk down the Warwick Road which will then lead you onto Sir Matt Busby Way from where you can see the stadium itself. You can also take the Eccles tram on the metrolink and get off at Exchange Quay station, as soon as you get off you will be able to see Old Trafford which is about a 10-minute walk away.
TRAIN
Manchester United Football Club do have their very own train station which is situated right outside the Munich tunnel of the stadium. This is a train service that only runs on match days. You can catch a match day special train from either Manchester Piccadilly, Manchester Oxford Road or Stockport train stations. If you are coming to Old Trafford on the train do plan your journey early as trains tend to be very busy close to kick off, also after the game the queue to get the return train into town is very busy, do consider tram or bus options for after the match.
CAR
If you are traveling to Old Trafford by car then do try and get to the ground and it’s surroundings early before the game, the streets around Old Trafford are very congested from an hour and a half before a match. If you are traveling up to Manchester from the South then an alternative option for you would be to park in Altrincham and get the tram direct to Old Trafford. This will beat traffic both way and also work out cheaper for you compared to the parking areas that are around the ground.
If you do want to park close to Old Trafford then there are many car parks located around the ground. We would suggest Old Trafford Cricket ground which is located 5-minutes away on Talbot Road, a very secure car park with cameras. During the 2012/2013 season they were charging £10 per vehicle. The postcode for Manchester United and Old Trafford is M16 0RA.
PLANE
If you are coming over from another country to watch Manchester United then the nearest airport to Old Trafford is Manchester airport which is 8 miles away from Old Trafford itself. Wants you have landed then you can either get a taxi to the ground or a train which will take you into Manchester Piccadilly to continue your commute to the ground. A taxi from the airport to Old Trafford will cost you around £18.
