Man Utd legend urges Mourinho to buy Real Madrid superstar

Former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke has suggested that Jose Mourinho and his old club needn’t look to this summer’s World Cup to decide on this summer marquee signing; Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale is the man that he believes United should target, with the Welshman enjoying a summer of due to his county’s absence from Russia.

“United and Jose don’t need to look at the World Cup. No player suits us more than Gareth Bale,” the former United striker told 888sport in quotes carried by Goal. “Yes there will always be some exciting candidates to look at but Bale is someone who excites me. He is the right age, in his prime, and will be the perfect addition.”

The former Trinidad and Tobago striker certainly has a point; few players on the planet are on Bale’s level, and have the capability to make a difference to almost any top side on the continent in the way that the former Tottenham Hotspur man does. However, having publicly stated a desire to pursue first team football, whether that was with Los Blancos or elsewhere, the situation at Real has become far more complicated. Zinedine Zidane’s surprise resignation after a hat-trick of Champions League trophies certainly changed the landscape, as the Frenchman didn’t seem to trust Bale in last season’s big games, but after Julen Lopetegui was hired by Real president Florentino Perez to replace Zidane, the situation has dramatically shifted.

Lopetegui, who was fired from his role as coach of Spain’s national side as a result, could have a vastly different opinion regarding Bale’s ongoing important to the side, and if the Welshman’s status is restored under him, then it could make him far less likely to exit the Bernabeu this summer. There could be development on this soon, with both Lopetegui and Bale free now free from international commitments this summer!

Enjoy that? Give it a share!
