Barcelona want Ander Herrera

The next transfer window, January 2016, sees Barcelona’s “transfer ban” come to an end. They have been allowed to transfer in the likes of Arda Turan and Aleix Vidal during this ban but these players have not been allowed to play for the first team until the ban is lifted.

Barcelona currently sit in 4th in the La Liga table, behind Villareal, Real Madrid and Celta Vigo, who crushed them 4-1 last month.

The Catalan giants are struggling in terms of goals. They may have 12 goals scored but they’ve conceded 9. Their goal difference, of 3, is 10 worse than Real Madrid’s.

Spanish press, Mundo Deportivo, are reporting that one of Barça’s top January targets is Manchester United’s Spanish midfielder, Ander Herrera. It is said that Barcelona have been monitoring him and 9 other players.

Barcelona lost midfield maestro Xavi Hernández in the summer, and recently, have been trying to play Javier Mascherano in central midfield, a position that he has not played regularly since first transferring from Liverpool, back in 2010.

Not only would Herrera provide Barça with a flairful midfielder, who is a great passer and is proven in La Liga, but he would also give them another association grown player to fill UEFA Champions League criteria.

Ander Herrera has been part of van Gaal’s midfield rotation system, but niggling injuries have forced him out of fixtures that he may have featured in.

The Spaniard has played 7 games for United this season, scoring one goal and setting one up.

Last season, his first in England, Herrera scored 8 goals and assisted 5 in 31 games, and has become a fan favourite at Old Trafford.

One reply on “Barcelona want Ander Herrera”

Hmmmm if Woodward is in the mood the club should just sack lvg rather than sell Herrera cause the player is more important than this retiree. Lvg should be brave enough to bench Rooney and Carrick cause they have no business on the field given their current form and instead Herrera and Schnidelin should be regular starters.
