Carrick Returns Injured

Manchester United midfielder, Michael Carrick, has been sent home injured. He sustained the injury whilst away with the England team.

Roy Hodgson hasn’t disclosed what the injury is.

Carrick was an unused substitute in the 6-0 win over San Marino, where Wayne Rooney equalled Sir Bobby Charlton’s scoring record.  The midfielder was a likely starter against Switzerland but has instead returned to Manchester.

This adds more mystery to United’s line up for the Premier League match up against arch rivals Liverpool next weekend.

Fan favourite, Ander Herrera could start behind Wayne Rooney again, leaving Schweinsteiger as the only viable option to pair up with Schneiderlin in central midfield. This would also mean that the German has no 60 minute replacement.

There is also the option that Rooney plays behind £36 million signing Anthony Martial, and Herrera or Schweinsteiger start on the bench, with the starter being subbed in the last half an hour.

Luckily this season Manchester United have the depth and quality in midfield to cover for the loss of the 34 year old.

Enjoy that? Give it a share!
