Player Ratings: Queens Park Rangers 0-2 Manchester United

Both Marouane Fellaini and James Wilson came off the bench to score which lifted United to a 2-0 victory over a struggling Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road.

Here are my player ratings:

David de Gea: Our number one between the sticks denied two of Austin’s chances in the match, parrying wide and rising to tip above the bar. In the closing stages, de Gea controlled his area and deflected Isla’s attempted equalizer. For his efforts, the Spaniard was voted Man of the Match… 9/10

Phil Jones: Jones delivered a solid performance against QPR. However, the Englishman often sent wayward, long searching balls instead of passing into the feet of our midfield…6/10

Jonny Evans: The 27 year old was caught in possession which lead to a QPR counter attack. Other than some misplaced passes, Evans played a decent match with no other outstanding errors…5.5/10

Marcos Rojo: Returning from injury, Rojo looked fit and confident. The Argentine was strong in the air against Austin and Zamora and controlled the back line…7/10

Antonio Valencia: Valencia assisted for Fellaini’s strike. Despite this, the Ecuadorian found little successful down the right wing …6/10

Michael Carrick: Solid in midfield, Carrick connected well with the likes of Rooney and Mata. Carrick broke play up effectively in the second half to start United on the attack…6/10

Juan Mata: The little Spaniard played a lovely in swinging ball to the path of Falcao in the first half. Other than this contribution, Mata did not impose himself on the match and was taken off at halftime…5.5/10

Daley Blind: In the wing back position, Blind did not see much of the ball to release any dangerous crosses into the area. Looked decent in spells but seems to play better in midfield…6/10

Wayne Rooney: Playing in a midfield role, the skipper once again had less of an impact on the match. However, Rooney began to express himself once Louis van Gaal changed the Reds to a more traditional 4-4-2…6/10

Angel Di Maria: The British transfer record signing played in an unfamiliar striker’s role and his discomfort showed. With his back to goal, Di Maria was not able to hold up play and connect with other Red Devils. However, once dropped back into a more natural midfield position, Di Maria ran at QPR’s defense and injected his energy and pace into the match…7/10

Radamel Falcao: After the media speculations, Radamel Falcao was restored to the starting 11, and honestly could have scored a hat trick. However, the Columbian striker fluffed his lines on three occasions. As usual, Falcao continued to work hard and connected quite well with young Wilson to get in behind QPR’s back line…5.5/10

Substitutions

Marouane Fellaini: The big Belgium replaced Mata for the start of the second half and changed the dynamic of United’s play. Van Gaal’s substitution paid off as Fellaini finished off a brilliant passage of United play to deliver the Red Devils a 1-0 advantage. Other than scoring the game winner, Fellaini broke up QPR attacks and connected well with Di Maria and Rooney…8/10

James Wilson: Louis van Gaal threw on Wilson for Evans which called for a change in formation. The Red Devils switched to four in the back and just two minutes later scored the go ahead goal. The young striker’s pace troubled QPR’s back line and the 19 year old broke through multiple times. Wilson was rewarded for his hard work with a stoppage time strike to secure the three points and United’s third away win of the campaign…8/10

Ander Herrera: Herrera came onto the pitch after United’s second goal. The match ended about 15 seconds later…no rating

“However, the Columbian striker fluffed his lines on three occasions” – is this the volley he got on target, the header that was brilliantly saved by Green and the tap-in that was just taken off his toe by the defender?

If so it’s hardly fluffing his lines…

The tactics are rubbish and players are out of position. The thing is,the king VG phillosophy needs either more time ,or better players. The manager has neither so he had better get his cloggs off and play premier leage football.
