David Moyes confirms Robin van Persie will be missing for a month

David Moyes has today confirmed that Robin van Persie will be out of action for at least a month for Manchester United after suffering a thigh injury during their 1-0 victory over Shakhtar Donetsk.

Robin van Persie picked up the injury while taking the corner which lead to Phil Jones’ winning goal on Tuesday night at Old Trafford, a corner taken with his left foot swinging in from the left hand side.

A big blow for Manchester United going into a busy Christmas period of fixtures. Some suggest that David Moyes may have bought van Persie back into the first-team squad too soon after his groin injury.

Moyes revealed the latest injury news in a separate media session with media from radio stations at Carrington.

Looking ahead to Sunday against Aston Villa, Moyes will no doubt look to bring in Danny Welbeck or Javier Hernandez, who scored a second half hat-trick last season at Villa Park.

Enjoy that? Give it a share!
