According to Nemanja Vidic’s agent Silvano Martina, the Serbia international won’t be leaving Manchester United this summer.
Vidic has been struggling with fitness issues over the past two seasons, having represented United just 33 times in this period.
Moreover, amid United’s interest in Benfica’s defender Ezequiel Garay, the veteran centre-back has been linked with a move to Italian giants AC Milan.
But Martina has stated that there haven’t been any talks with Milan regarding a potential transfer for his client.
“We are talking with no one [for Vidic’s transfer],” he told Fantagazzetta. “This is all bar talk.
“This is the first time I heard the news [of Milan’s interest in Vidic] and I do not know where it came from.
“We’re talking about the captain of Manchester United here, not just any player whatsoever.
“Vidic has no problems with at United, all the talk is hot air.”
Although Vidic is entering the twilight of his career, he still has a season or two left in the tank.
Even if Garay is roped in from Portugal, Vidic will continue to be integral part of the club’s set-up as his presence on the field in itself provides a new sense of defensive stability that is generally missing when the 31-year-old is sidelined.
New manager David Moyes might be looking to shuffle the Red Devils’ relatively weak back-four but he’ll be foolish to sell the club’s captain, considering the youngsters and Jonny Evans are still developing, while Rio Ferdinand is nearing the end of his United career.
