England fans reported over racial abuse towards Rio Ferdinand

It has emerged today that traveling England fans have been reported direct to FIFA by Football Against Racism in Europe (FARE) over alleged racist signing and chanting towards Manchester United’s Rio Ferdinand during their 8-0 win over San Marino.

England fans racial abuse of Rio Ferdinand

Football Against Racism in Europe (FARE) mentioned on it’s twitter account that they have “sent reports of racist or xenophobic abuse” to FIFA regarding 3 games which included England’s against San Marino.

Ferdinand had been called up by England manager Roy Hodgson for their matches versus San Marino and Montenegro but the Manchester United  defender withdrew from the squad as he did not feel ready physically for the two-games.

A FARE spokeswoman said in the Daily Mail:

“It refers to the racist abuse Rio Ferdinand received, along with his brother Anton.

“We don’t make the judgement. We send a report to FIFA but in the end it’s their decision whether they open proceedings or not. And whether they issue a fine or not.”
