Davide Petrucci, who is currently on loan to Peterborough United admits that he is hoping to catch Sir Alex Ferguson’s eye during his loan spell.

Peterborough United are in a real battle against relegation this season and Petrucci hopes that he can offer a helping hand to stop that from happening

Speaking with MUTV, Petrucci said:

“I like it here, it’s a new experience for me and I’m very excited. Hopefully, I can do well here.

”It’s a great thing to have, knowing that he [Sir Alex] speaks to his son every day so you want to do as well as you can every day so he can hopefully tell him something good and I can go back there and play.

”I think 80 per cent of players do this step. Unless you’re Wayne Rooney or a player like that, you have to start in the Championship and get experience. I want to do well and hopefully go back to United and play one day for the first team.”

Scott Wootton also went on loan at the same time as Petrucci but unfortunately Wootton has had to return to Carrington after picking up a hamstring injury in training.

Petrucci added:

“It’s a bit weird as I’ve been at United for four-and-a-half years now, obviously, everything is different but it’s a step forward for me and something you have got to do when you’re young. Both the Premier League and Championship, even though I’ve only played a couple of games in it, are very physically but hopefully I can get used to playing football against men and do well.

“Scott was already on loan here and is such a nice guy and friendly with everyone so, when I came here, I was introduced to the group and have had no problem with them.”
